Splash of Sunshine
My favourite season of the year is in full swing guys.. that summer sunshine paired with weddings on weddings. I am in dress-up heaven! But this wedding season is different than others, I have only gotten married about one month ago and let me tell you.... after your own wedding, other weddings are even more fun!
I cherished my time in the sun... but its really quite fun to watch other love stories unfold from a distance as well. I am also particularly enjoying rocking my choora with Indian-wear. So you will see it peaking through a lot of posts this summer! No guys I'm not wearing the same bangles with every outfit, a choora ( red and white bangles that newly-wed brides wear in the Punjabi culture). I haven't quite decided how long I'll rock it for... but for now I'm enjoying the splash of red.
For a pre-wedding event for a friend's wedding, I wore this super chill Kurta and Dhoti Pants set by Jayanti Reddy. This is one of my favourite Indian designer labels! The Kurta is supposed to be a looser fit and the genie pants (that's what I call them) are a nice airy change. Its so relaxed yet festive and vibrant! That's exactly what I need for week-day wedding events. Run home from work, slip into something easy and go!
I love outfits like these that play around with more modern and relaxed cuts but don't dilute the ethnic aesthetic our rich culture has to offer. I kept everything else pretty simple. I just added the Tikka on my forehead to enhance the Indian wedding vibe, loose curls, marble clutch, winged eyeliner and nude lips. Less is more and this outfit proves it. I skipped the earrings, as this laid back vibe looked much more fresh, also because...
...I always follow Coco Chanel's dress-up rule: get fully dressed and then take one thing off. I swear by this guys! You should try it. Stand in front of the mirror and look at your whole look including outfit, shoes, accessories, hair and make up etc. 99.9% of the time taking one thing off somehow results in me whispering 'perfect' under my breath before I walk out the door!
Love and Light,
